Question: What is the difference between The Ten Commandments and “The Law” as written in Exodus, Leviticus & Deuteronomy, etc.?
None!
The Ten Commandments on the stone tablets given to Moses, are the total and the basics; which if the children of Israel had been able, would not have needed spelling out in detail in Leviticus and Deuteronomy.
As is recorded, Moses smashed the first set upon returning down the Mountain, when he saw the sinning and Idolatry of the tribes, with a “golden calf”; and sexually with each other!
That action by Moses mirrored the anger of Almighty God; and necessitated the detail which followed in Leviticus and Deuteronomy!
That whole scene has given record in the Bible of the failings of all mankind, and although God knew that Israel would not be able to keep their vows to him in Deuteronomy, He progressed to the Birth of Christ Jesus, to present the ultimate saving (Salvation) of both Israel and all Gentiles who would/will trust in Jesus for their Salvation in Eternity!
Jesus said “think not that I come to destroy the Law and the prophets, I have come to fulfil etc.” Matt. 5:17–20.
It becomes clear that in v.20, as Jesus had referred to the “Scribes and the Pharisees”, that their interpretation was not correct! This conclusion is confirmed in Acts 28:25–28, where Israel is made Lo-Ammi (not My people) for a time period, because of their rejection of Jesus as their long promised Messiah!
The “Good News” of the Gospel of Christ Jesus’ Death and Resurrection for all mankind was thus “sent to the Gentiles”, where it remains at present; but perhaps not for much longer, when looking at the worldwide situation relative to prophecy!
In summary therefore, the failure of the Jews to see their Messiah as Acts 28:28 shows, which was prophesied in Isa. 6:9–10, the opening of the way for the Gentiles to take over the Worldwide evangelisation which has taken place; and may well auger the re-adoption of the Jews soon, as prophesied in many places in Scripture, particularly in Hosea 1&2.
At the stage of Zech.12:10; the Jews will become the worldwide evangelists, which will need the explanations which many will find difficult to follow, except for their detailed and Spirit driven efforts, to salvage many from the clutches of Satan!
